Malala Fund is working for a world where every girl can learn and lead.
October 11, 2019
In celebration of International Day of the Girl, Malala Fund launched our #WatchHerShine campaign, which focuses on the power of female creators to inspire audiences to learn and challenge expectations of girls and women.
A group of YouTube creators from around the world — including Monika Gobaira, Ebony, Kati Morton, Gita Savitri Devi, Danielle Bainbridge and Karen Polinesia — are helping to kick off the campaign. Through videos and social media posts, they’re raising awareness about girls’ education and encouraging their followers to donate to Malala Fund through YouTube’s “Donate” button. With their combined audiences, we hope to reach 15.5 million subscribers.
For her #WatchHerShine video, Ebony from Team2Moms, filmed a conversation with her 7-year-old daughter, Olivia. They talk about what she’s learning in school, her goals for the future and the importance of education.
On A little bit of Monika, Dominican film student Monica reviewed her five favourite films by female directors for #WatchHerShine. She also discussed her own education and why she supports Malala Fund’s work to help every girl learn.
Through the #WatchHerShine campaign, which ends on October 21, Malala Fund hopes to raise money to support the hundreds of millions of girls who are not in school. You can join the campaign by watching all the creator’s YouTube videos on Malala Fund’s #WatchHerShine playlist and making a gift today.
